Some say I'm a yellow labrador reincarnated; I'd like to think that I am that evolved but in the meantime, I'll do my best as a human.  Since 1992, I have been  painting pet portraits, devoting most of my work to the 'canis domesticus'.  While growing up, I had a keen interest in photography. A camera has always been a part of me and is an integral part of my work .  Most of my formal training took place at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, studying color and design and painting primarily in Oil.  I studied Economics at Denison University.  Go figure!

I live with my dogs - Emma, Charlie and Gunner - in northern Michigan and New Orleans.  All three rescued from the streets of the Big Easy.  My works to date are primarily commissions and my client base is worldwide.  When I'm in New Orleans, I love to explore the many wonderful neighborhoods with camera in hand. Northern Michigan is equally magnificent yet at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Other endeavors I have launched and are currently active include and The Dogs of Walloon Lake.

5% of each commissioned piece goes to the Search Dog Foundation.  Founded by Norma Melville after the Oklahoma City bombing, SDF seeks out, acquires,  and  trains rescued dogs showing characteristics needed to rescue people in natural and man made disasters.  Each dog chosen works in conjunction with a firefighter, saving lives around the world.  For more information, go to  I think it's a fantastic organization, helping dogs and people.

I'd love to paint your dog! Let's work together! In the meantime, give your dog a hug and a treat from me.

Thanks for stopping by!
