Some say I'm a yellow labrador reincarnated; I'd like to think that I am that evolved but in the meantime, I'll try to do my best as a human.  Since 1992, I have been  painting pet portraits, devoting most of my work to the 'canis domesticus'.  While growing up, I had a keen interest in photography. A camera has always been a part of me and is an integral part of my work .  Most of my formal training took place at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, studying color and design and painting primarily in Oil.  I studied Economics at Denison University.  Go figure!

I live with my dogs - Charlie and Gunner - in Watersound, Florida.  I'm originally from Ohio and spent most of my adult life in New Orleans and Northern Michigan on Walloon Lake.  The Emerald Coast is loaded with dogs in the community.  My favorite spot to capture them is on the beach.   When I'm in New Orleans, I love to explore the many wonderful neighborhoods with camera in hand. Northern Michigan is equally magnificent in completely different ways.

I'd love to paint your dog! Let's work together! In the meantime, give your dog a hug and a treat from me.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Best,

Betsy Doody
